Sean Geobey

Assistant Professor of Social Entrepreneurship and Social Innovation in the University of Waterloo’s School of Environment, Enterprise and Development (SEED)

Dr. Sean Geobey is an Assistant Professor of Social Entrepreneurship and Social Innovation in the University of Waterloo’s School of Environment, Enterprise and Development (SEED). His research looks at financial tools that can support social innovation including crowd funding, impact investing and the role of credit unions. He holds a PhD specialized in social innovation from the University of Waterloo a MA in Economics from Queen’s University.

He is affiliated with a number of research and policy organizations including the Waterloo Institute for Social Innovation and Resilience, the Canadian Index of Wellbeing, the Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives, the MaRS Solutions Lab and the Filene Research Institute.
