An article in Credit Union Times today reported that, “Former CUNA President/CEO Ralph Swoboda died on Monday, according to a statement from CUNA.”
Ralph was a member of Filene’s first Administrative Board of Directors in the role of vice president & treasurer, when the organization was founded in 1989. As a founding board member at Filene, he supported Filene in our earliest years of research. These efforts helped ensure that the credit union industry had access to research that was thoughtful, informed and innovative around financial services issues – helping to prepare credit unions for the future.
While guiding Filene’s early research, Ralph also served as the President/CEO of the Credit Union National Association (CUNA) from February 1986 to December 1994.
We are saddened by this loss while taking a moment to reflect on our appreciation for the tremendous contributions Ralph made over his lifetime to the credit union industry. Our deepest sympathies go out to the Swoboda family.
